The first thing that you will experience with a faulty LNB will include missing satellite television channels on one polarity or both. Pay attention to the transponder that your are watching, is it horizontal or vertical (13 vdc or 18 vdc)? Your TV set will display video pixelation (pixelation is when your program pops, sqeeks and has like bars all over the screen), signal drop-out during heavy fog or rain may cause complete loss of signal. Here is watch you need to do to troubleshoot an LNB, first visually inspect the LNB for a missing front cover or even cracks that might have allowed water to ingress into the LNB cone. If you see evidence of cracks or missing cover lets proceed to ordering a new one. Most of my customers order two LNB’s just to keep one in stock for such occasions. Click here to order a new LNB. It is my professional opinion and expirence to replace LNB’s about every 5 years to keep from having worse problems.  Problems like the LNB shorting out and damaging the power supply on the receivers.  The next step will be to test the VDC coming out of the LNB input on the back of the receiver.  I have produced a YouTube video to help with this section of the procedure. I do encurage that you follow the steps carefully. If you follow the recommendation and you find no VDC precent on eather the veritical (13 vdc) or Horizontal (18 vdc) then I recommend that you get a new receiver like our GEOSATpro HDVR-3500 and it my be time to upgrade to MPEG-4 technology anyways.  Well then if everything with the receiver checks out then you may have to use a  digital-satellite finder meter to determine if your LNB or alignment are properly set.  I hope that this information has been useful to you.  If it has please consider supporting our efforts by donating just $1 to help us produce more videos and continue to provide FREE FTA technical support.
